Village of La Carneille

A superb village full of character for lovers of old buildings!

The historical village of La Carneille is built on either side of the river Gine. Right in the heart of the Suisse Normande region, it boasts some very unusual gorges and has preserved some fine architecture, with its houses dating between 16th and 18th century, its narrow streets, the church with its remarkable bell tower and old butter market hall. Follow the 1.7 km “La Carneille en Histoire” trail, and become immersed in the stories described at the 11 information panels along the way.

La Carneille is also a village of artists. In fact, you’ll be able to spot a few works of art as you wander through the typical narrow streets. If you’re a fan of open air painting, you’ll notice that there are plenty of intimate, characterful spots, ideal for pictorial meditation.

Don’t forget to bring your picnic, as there are plenty of quiet spots where you can settle down: in the park by the river, or along the “Chemin de Trompe Souris” in the Gine valley.
